"Obstacles to fly" are commonly defined vertical constructions such as buildings of large dimensions, power lines, antenna repeaters, supports, chimneys, wind generators, cableways, stretched ropes and similar infrastructures that exceed a certain height from the ground. There are different international and regional standards (ICAO, FAA, ENAC) that regulate the location and the relative positioning of the aircraft warning lighting equipment. In addition to aerodromes, even plants with a risk of explosion with high structures emerging from ground level must be provided with obstacles signalling equipment following the same criteria laid down by these standards XLFE-4.../1 series lighting fixture, red in colour with a luminous intensity of more than 32 candles, is equipped with an internal reflector in chromium-plated anticorodal aluminium alloy and it can be provided with double circuit (main/spare). They are also available for industrial signalling in flashing operation and with different light colors upon request. XLFE-MIB series lighting fixture, red in colour too, features a lighting intensity of more than 2,000 candles. The XLFE-MIB series has been designed for Zone 1 with an ‘Ex db’ optical source. The particular design avoids any type of optical error typical of the glass globes. As required by the ICAO regulations, the XLFE-MIB series has a flashing operation, standard at 20 fpm, upon request at 40 fpm. The light source also complies with EN/IEC 60079-28 standard (“op is” protection). The installation is facilitated by the reduced dimensions, the wiring is done with a cable gland in an ‘Ex e’ enclosure, avoiding the use of sealed cable glands or the resin finishing at high heights. The signalling device is not a stand-alone device but it is part of a system that provides power from a panel. This choice reduces maintenance operations by making the power supplies accessible from the management panel. XLFE series complies with the ICAO Annex 14 standard for low and medium intensity aviation warning lamps (corresponding to the FAA L-810 and FAA L-864).
